Archive for December, 2008

Wow! What a year it’s been! Of course, for us, it was the rebranding of THE PODCAST VOICE GUYS and the launch of NEW MECIA CREATIVE last summer that marked a turning point and new beginning.

Since then, we’ve been busier than ever with new clients, new projects and a marathon of trade shows and conferences. Then, as the year drew to a close, there was all of the unexpected coolness surrounding the twentieth anniversary of Joe Klein’s newly-annointed holiday classic Christmas In Malibu!

What a wild and crazy five months it’s been, to be sure……

To regain a little sanity, reset our mildly sautéed brains and prepare for the next onslaught of craziness that the new year will bring, we’re taking a break for the last week of December.Mac-World-Logo

We’ll be diving back into the new media madness at MacWorld Expo in San Francisco, followed by the Consumer Electronics Show  and Affiliate Summit West conference in Las Vegas. Joe will be flying solo at MacWorld, then joining NMC associate Brett Bumeter in Vegas for the CES and Affiliate Summit.

We look forward to seeing friends old and new and meeting new colleagues over the next few weeks. We’ll be checking the blogs and following Twitter throughout all three events, so look for us at various sessions, meetups and after-hours parties!

Look for updates following the events and lots of breaking news about upcoming projects we have on the boards for 2009! This next year already has lots going on for us.

It would be remiss not to address the fact that this past year, and particularly the past few months, have been a challenge for a large percentage of us in the business community, as the economy has experienced a pretty significant downturn through the second half of 2008. New Media has not been spared the wrath of the deepening recession and these are difficult times for us all!

But let’s not let these financial potholes run us off the road to success! It’s more important than ever to keep a positive attitude and outlook, and especially to keep on innovating and moving the exciting and promising world of new media forward!

2009 is a new year, with young and exciting new leadership. Hopefully, together, we will put unbridled greed and competition aside, pull ourselves out of the current economic rut we find ourselves in and, with a little bit of luck, end up with a “new and improved” planet Earth, filled with exciting new opportunities and possibilities for us all to explore and exploit!

MAY THE NEW YEAR BRING

PEACE AND PROSPERITY ALL!

NEW MEDIA CREATIVE associate BRETT BUMETER was recently selected to be part of an elite group of IZEA INSIDERS.image

IZEA established the IZEA INSIDER program to forge a stronger bond with the blogger, podcaster and new media community, and provide insight and innovation for established bloggers already working with IZEA.

Brett has worked with IZEA in multiple capacities since the company’s formation in 2006.  Most recently he worked to build buzz for the launch of the latest voice recognition software from NUANCE, DRAGON NATURALLY SPEAKING PREFERRED 10.

Brett’s well-executed and aggressive blog marketing campaign has, to date, generated in excess of 128% more impressions than original projections, and the impressions continue to mount.

IZEA, an aggressive blog and social media marketing company, runs a number of online sites and manages a blogging network of over 200,000 active blogs which offers advertisers the means to connect with tens of millions of readers every week. Brett has most recently been involved in an ambitious blog marketing program that was tied into a successful Sears campaign involving several highly visible bloggers.

The program that Brett is currently working on kicks off early in the new year, but our aggressive blog and affiliate marketing guru has hit the ground running, launching a group called THE LIVE WRITERS.

Brett conceived THE LIVE WRITERS to help bloggers hone their blogging abilities and, at the same time, develop effective monetization strategies for their blogging endeavors.

Brett and New Media Creative founder JOE KLEIN will be attending CES 2009 and the AFFILATE SUMMIT WEST conference in Las Vegas in January and will be reporting and blogging from those events. Check back next month for updates, and more.

As always, we’re pleased and proud about Brett’s accomplishments in the vital and rapidly expanding areas of blog and affiliate marketing, not to mention his ever-expanding expertise in the areas of social media and SEO. For more about Brett’s endeavors through his own company and to check out his latest blogs visit his SOFTDUIT MEDIA website

Stay tuned to hear more about Brett’s continuing efforts in these and other campaigns in the coming months and for news and announcements about new projects and campaigns from NEW MEDIA CREATIVE!

As Christmas 2008 draws to a close and all the presents have been unwrapped, I received one last, very cool holiday gift.

It came in the form of an email telling me that Christmas In Malibu was once again featured on the front page of the MEVIO NETWORK.

(THE FOLLOWING TEXT WAS UPDATED ON 12/27/08)

Listen to Christmas in Malibu on itunes

On Chirstmas day, the music video of the song immediately followed Adam Curry’s holiday greeting on the video player embedded on Mevio’s HOME PAGE. You can watch Adam’s holiday message, which played on Christmas, on the player below. (Note that, following the Christmas day greeting, current daily Mevio video content follows in place of The Rad Dudes video, which did immediately follow Adam’s holiday message on Christmas day.)

What a pleasant surprise, and very cool way for the holiday to end for me. The wind outside was howling, the rain was falling, and the sky was dark gray with storm clouds on a (rarely experienced) cold and wet Christmas day in the Mohave desert. How great it was to sit cuddled up next to the “electronic fireplaces” in my cool little Arizona hideaway. The flat screen satellite TV and widescreen computer monitor were ablaze as surround sound speakers trumpeted out the notes of the holiday tune that refused to die! This made it quite the joyous holiday for yours truly!

On what was a frigid, white Christmas 2008, I offered my sincerest appreciation to all the bloggers, podcasters, video networks, newsletters, mainstream radio, television, magazines and newspapers who featured Christmas In Malibu during the 2008 holiday season. My heartfelt thanks for spreading the warm vibrations of a magical Southern California Christmas twenty years after it was first celebrated!

(Scroll down to the previous post to hear the voice chat between the song’s lead singer, KARMA AUGER and me. You can listen to it on the audio player in the post below.)

COME THE NEW MORNING LIGHT

Just in time for Christmas, here’s the unexpected yuletide surprise we promised! Hear the voice chat where KARMA AUGER and I reminisce about the making of Christmas In Malibu. We share our own individual recollections of that magical time twenty years ago when the song, the record and the video came together, and then became an instant hit, all in just a few weeks!

The conversation was recorded on SKYPE just before Christmas, and this is the first time we’ve talked with each other about the project, privately or publicly, in the two decades since The Rad Dudes disbanded back in 1989. It’s an interesting and heartwarming chat, and a cool little slice of holiday music history! The chat will be released in two parts, with the first part being our “Malibu Memories.” In part two, which will be posted next month, Karma shares stories and thoughts about his father, BRIAN AUGER, the renowned rock and jazz musician, and tells us what he’s been doing since the Malibu days. A talented and accomplished artist and musician in his own right, Karma’s been playing and touring with his dad for over fifteen years. You’ll hear about his own background and musical tastes, past and present, and what he’s up to currently.

It’s a very special holiday gift that I am so pleased to bring, and it’s only available here! Check out the first segment of this exclusive online voice chat on the audio player below.
